This course discusses the use and value of voice technology to provide access to the digital world and bring tangible improvements to people’s lives along with the impact and ethical challenges of conversational/voice AI. The design principles and frameworks that create value as well as help avoid potential harm as humans interact with conversational/voice experiences will also be covered. The course will also explore the ethical issues and impact of conversational/voice AI on privacy, data collection, children and other vulnerable users, especially as it relates to cultural biases. Upon completion you will gain awareness on how to reduce risk, avoid harm, and provide assurance in the use of conversational/voice technology. You will also gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges of conversational/voice technology, as well as the skills and tools to create positive outcomes for yourself, your organization, and your users. You will also be able to apply ethical principles and frameworks to ensure that your conversational/voice experiences are respectful, trustworthy, and beneficial for human well-being.
The contents were easy to follow and understand, very well structured course.
What I liked most about the course was the material, the exercises, and the simulations.
I liked how much of the Kubernetes components it covered. I also really liked the hands-on labs, they were clear, and easy to follow, and all the setup scripts worked without any troubleshooting needed.
I loved the voice read out of the videos by different voices / accents, it showed the "inclusivity first" approach to this course, which is absolutely a "lead by example" approach. Kudos to the team behind this, and the larger Open Voice Network community.
The software and optional hardware is supported in Linux, and most of it is also supported in Windows and macOS. A Ubuntu 22.04 Virtual Machine is also provided with everything installed on it, so that you can easily use all tools in a Linux environment (independently of the OS that you use in your computer) out-of-the-box. The course may be completed in simulation, so the hardware (the Nexys A7 FPGA board) is optional.
